2024 World Championships
Read about CURA alumnae Rosanne Furniss and Alice Good (GM) at the 2024 World Championships in South Africa.
As the 2024 World Championships draw to a close, we are extremely proud to celebrate the tremendous achievements of our alumnae Rosanne Furniss (Trinity Hall, CURA 2005-2009) and Alice Good GM (Emmanuel, CURA 2017-2023) who have been competing in South Africa this month. Rosanne not only finished 7th in the individuals with a score of 735.80, achieving the highest score of any woman, but also broke a world record in her first Palma Match by going clean with 450.67. She also came 9th in the State President (equivalent to King’s) and was part of the GB team which won the Protea match. Rosanne recently delivered a magnificent speech at our annual dinner, inspiring a new generation of shooters who will no doubt strive to emulate her exceptional achievements in multiple shooting disciplines. Many congratulations to Rosanne!
Alice also had great success coming 4th in the U25 Individual World Championships (189.15), 5th in both the short and long range aggregates, 3rd woman overall in the SA Championships (545.43), and of course, being part of the victorious GB U25 team, who gave an outstanding performance to become world champions, while also achieving the highest target score on the range that day out of all the teams there. CURA has been incredibly privileged to watch Alice grow from a novice to a world champion, and simply could not be more proud. Our club is truly lucky to have so many outstanding role models in our alumnae.
Congratulations are certainly also due for the whole GB Palma team for such a groundbreaking performance which yours truly is still taking in the scale of, as more stats are found and records tumble – though of course, congratulations to Australia for ultimately coming out on top. We wish a safe journey for everyone returning from the eventful and record-breaking tour that Palma 2024 turned out to be, and look forward to celebrating with our CURA queens back in the UK. ![]()
