Muzzle Loading Training 2023
A weekend of powder and smoke.
This weekend, our CURA committee got trained in some traditional musketry, learning to handle both muzzle loading pistols and rifles. Different firing positions were explored, lots of smoke inhaled, and rifles appropriately watered at the end of the day. All in all the perfect preparation for the upcoming Roads Cup 2024, the first time we will shoot this muzzle loading match against Oxford University Rifle Club in over six years following the repair of our own muzzle loading rifle.
Many thanks to Adam and Lee for teaching us about percussion caps, hammering bullets into rifles and confusing units (grains of black powder…), letting us use their muzzle loading pistols and making this such a fun day!
